Patriot Volleyball falls to Flagler College

FLORENCE, SC – The Francis Marion University volleyball team fell in three sets to Flagler College 25-18, 25-17, 25-10 in Peach Belt Conference action on Saturday (Oct. 6) afternoon.

Francis Marion (9-9, 1-4) will step outside of conference play on Tuesday, as it welcomes Belmont Abbey College to Smith University Center at 7 p.m.

Senior Georgia Garrison led FMU with eight kills and chipped in eight digs, while sophomore Courtney Abdur-Rahim recorded seven kills and four service aces. Abdur-Rahim continues to lead the PBC with 43 service aces this season.

FMU freshman setter Finn Millians dished out 23 assists, and tied for the team lead with nine digs. Sophomore libero Natalie Ferrell also added nine digs for the Patriots.

Sophomore Karlie Redfern led Flagler (8-10, 3-3) with a match-high 19 kills, while senior setter Tara Savisky handed out 36 assists. Junior libero Kayla Norelli dug up a match-high 14 balls for the visitors.

In the first set, FMU cut an early Saints lead to 14-13, but Flagler went on an 11-5 spurt to take the first set. The second set played out in similar fashion. With the score tied 14-14, Flagler once again went on a run, including claiming the final four points to take a 2-0 lead into the intermission.   

The Saints continued their momentum into the third set, racing out to a 6-0 advantage. Francis Marion could not recover from Flagler's early run, as the visitors claimed the finale 25-10.
