Bearcats pull away from Patriots in second half for 3-0 win

GREENWOOD, SC – Sophomore midfielder Chloe Le France scored a pair of goals to lead Lander University to a 3-0 win over Francis Marion University, Wednesday evening (Oct. 24) in Peach Belt Conference women's soccer action.

The Patriots (5-9-1, 2-7-0) will conclude their 2018 season with a road match at Flagler College on Saturday at 3 p.m.

The Bearcats (11-2-1, 6-2-1) outshot Francis Marion 21-9 and held a slight 3-1 advantage in corner kicks.

FMU freshman goalkeeper Rachael Hennenkamp recorded 10 saves – her fifth double-digit effort of the season.  Sarah Owen made three stops in net for Lander.

Le France netted scores in the 30th and 70th minutes, while Juliette Vidal added an insurance tally in the 81st minute.

FMU freshman defender Makayla Chavis forced the first of Owen's saves with a shot at the 4:55 mark.  Freshman Kiley Barr had a shot on frame in the 76th minute and Chavis again forced Owen into making a save with an attempt at 78:25.
