Midfielder McEwen named PBC Women’s Soccer Player of the Week

Sophomore midfielder Dayle McEwen of the Francis Marion University women's soccer team has been named the Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 3-9.

McEwen helped Francis Marion to a 2-1-0 week by scoring three goals, including a pair of game-winners against Coker College and Mars Hill University. She scored a pair against Coker for the first multi-goal game of her FMU career.

Her score in the 1-0 victory over Mars Hill came on a header off a corner kick by Emma Hall in the 78th minute.

The Collinsville, Ill., native leads the Peach Belt Conference in goals (4), points (8), game-winning goals (2), and shots (22).

The next scheduled match for Francis Marion (2-2-0) was to be its Peach Belt Conference opener against 18th-ranked University of North Georgia on Saturday, but that match has been canceled due to the expected effects of Hurricane Florence.

McEwen is a product of Collinsville High School.
