GREENWOOD, SC – Seventh-seeded Francis Marion University saw its season come to an end on Wednesday (March 6), falling 107-70 to second-seeded Lander University in a Peach Belt Conference Women's Basketball Tournament quarterfinal game.

The Patriots finish the season 12-15, while the Bearcats (22-7) advance to Saturday's semifinals, where they will take on sixth-seed Columbus State University at 2:30 p.m.

Junior 6-2 center Tatyana McClaney led FMU with a career-high 17 points and a team-high eight rebounds. Junior guard Abigail Bullock added 12, and sophomore forward Kiana Adderton chipped in 10.

Senior guard Mylea McKenith paced Lander's offense with a game-high 21 points. Four other Bearcats reached double-figures, including junior forward Tabitha Dailey, who came off the bench to score 19.

The two squads traded the lead back-and-forth throughout the opening period, with Lander in front 19-18 as the horn sounded.

Francis Marion scored the first four points of the second to take a 22-19 edge, but Lander responded with a 16-0 run to regain the lead. The margin climbed as high as 20 in the opening stanza, and the Bearcats took a 48-30 advantage into intermission.

A 10-0 Lander spurt stretched the lead to 28 at 63-35 with 6:22 left in the third. McClaney scored the next four for FMU, but that was as close as the Patriots got for the remainder of the evening. The Bearcats were up 83-47 at the end of the third.

Francis Marion shot 42.9 percent from the floor, and hit 7-of-17 three-point attempts. The Patriots knocked down 9-of-12 at the foul line. Lander connected on 50.6 percent of its field goals, including 8-of-24 from beyond the arc. The Bearcats made 15-of-22 free throws.

Playing their final games for FMU were seniors Lauryn Bush, Brooke Dixon, and Shaunice Fulmore, as well as graduate student Briana Burgins.

Fulmore's seven points for the evening give her 1,867 for her career, sixth-most in program history, and seventh-most in PBC history. The Lake City native finished with 663 rebounds, which has her in 17th all-time at FMU.

Burgins had five points, seven rebounds, and four assists on the evening. She finishes her Patriot career with 1,303 points, 18th-most in program history. Burgins became the eighth player to grab more than 900 rebounds in her career on Wednesday, finishing eighth all-time with 902. She is the only player in Francis Marion history to have more than 1,000 points, 900 rebounds, 200 assists, and 200 steals.
