GREENWOOD, SC – Jessica Harris (25), Symone Starks (24), and Mylea McKenith (20) combined for 69 points and Lander University overcame a slow start to claim an 87-65 Peach Belt Conference win over Francis Marion University, Wednesday night (Jan. 16) in women's basketball action.

FMU (6-5, 3-4) returns to Florence to open a three-game home stand beginning with a 1:30 p.m. tip-off against Georgia Southwestern State University on Saturday.

Junior Abigail Bullock led the Patriots with 17 points, while sophomore Kiana Adderton scored 15 and senior Shaunice Fulmore tallied 14 points and seven rebounds.  Freshman center Zaria Woods chipped in a career-high equaling 10 points and pulled down a team-high nine rebounds.

A floater in the lane by Bullock brought the Patriots to within 61-53 to open the final quarter, but a 15-4 run by the Bearcats produced an insurmountable 76-57 margin.

Francis Marion shot 36.8 percent from the field, including 6-of-18 from behind the arc, while the Patriots made 9-of-10 free throws.  Lander connected on 41.7 percent of its field goal attempts, including 8-of-27 from deep, and hit 19-of-24 free throws.
