FMU Men ranked 30th in final tennis poll

The Francis Marion University men's tennis team is ranked 30th in the final 2018 Oracle/Intercollegiate Tennis Association NCAA Division II Top 50 national poll that was recently released.

Francis Marion appears in the final national men's poll for the 23rd straight year, and the 24th of the past 25 seasons.  FMU ranked 38th at the conclusion of the 2017 campaign.

The 2018 Patriot squad was very young, listing no seniors and only one junior among its roster.  FMU finished with a 7-11 record and placed seventh in the Peach Belt Conference regular-season standings – a conference that produced the Division II national champion and placed eight teams in the final poll.  Six of Francis Marion's defeats were to nationally ranked opponents and one other was to a Division I opponent.

In 26 seasons, Patriot head coach Garth Thomson has amassed a 344-199 career coaching record at the helm of the Patriot men.
