FMU answered in the 32nd minute thanks to a penalty kick. Freshman Sidney Warden stepped up and buried it into the left corner to even the contest at 1-1.

The score remained tied until the 81:47 mark, when Roberts pounced on a loose ball in the FMU penalty area, and fired it home for the eventual game-winning tally.

Francis Marion managed one more shot on target in the final five minutes, but Harrison denied Pollard for a third time to preserve the Tigers advantage.

The Patriots outshot West Alabama 16-10, with an eight to three edge in attempts on target. Each team took four corner kicks.
