Sandmann garners CoSIDA All-District Academic accolades

Francis Marion University junior forward Levin Sandmann was selected to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District™ Men's Soccer Team for District 3 of NCAA Division II.

The Academic All-District™ teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada.  The Division II and III Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures, to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2017-18 DII and DIII Academic All-America® teams program.

A business economics major with a 3.46 cumulative grade point average, Sandmann was also named to the 2017 PBC All-Academic Team.  He has been named to the Peach Belt Conference Presidential Honor Roll and the FMU Swamp Fox Athletic-Academic Honor Roll on every opportunity during his time at Francis Marion.

On the field this past season, Sandmann earned first-team All-Peach Belt Conference honors for the second year in a row. He picked up second-team honors as a freshman.

The native of Heidelberg, Germany, led the Patriots in goals scored (10), match-winning scores (2), shots (45), and total points (24).  He also assisted on four other scores. Within the conference, he ranks second in goals scored, third in points, fifth in game-winning goals, seventh in shots, and 12th in assists.

He started all 15 matches this season for the 6-9-0 Patriots and was on the field for all but 74 minutes of the team's 1,372 total, while 60.0 percent of his shots were on frame.

Sandmann has career totals of 50 matches played, 168 shots, 33 goals, 13 assists, and 79 points.  His goal total is the most by a Patriot in 17 seasons. He is the fifth Patriot men's soccer player to earn All-PBC honors three times.

Sandmann advances to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
