The Francis Marion University men's and women's soccer teams will compete in non-conference collegiate soccer action against Coker College this Saturday (Sept. 16) in Hartsville, S.C.
The women's kick off is set for 4:30 p.m. and the men will follow at 7 p.m. on the Coker Athletic Field. Ticket prices are $5 for adults and $3 for students.
On the women's side, the Patriots (2-1) are coming off a 4-0 win this past Thursdady against the University of Mount Olive. Freshmen Dayle McEwen and Megan Misuraca lead the season scoring for FMU with two goals apiece, while junior goalkeeper Janine Gordon has recorded 11 saves and given up only three goals in the squad's first three games of the season.
Sophomores Ashley Hogg and Grayson Chappell both have one goal each to lead the Coker women (1-2-1).
This will be the first meeting for these two teams in 20 years with the Patriots leading the all-time series 3-0.
Junior forward Levin Sandmann leads the Francis Marion men's squad (2-1-0) with four goals this season, including two match-winners. The Patriots were victorious against Barton College on Sept. 6 by a score of 2-1. Junior Colin McPartlin, freshman Adrian Merino, and sophomore Jordan Dechere have all accounted for one goal in the early part of the campaign, helping the Patriots outscore their opponents 7-5. Freshmen goalkeepers Raul Guillamon Bejar and Washington Bgoni have combined to post a 1.67 goals against average.
Freshman Robbie Jenkinson and junior Aladdin Elfares are leading the Cobra men (1-2-0) with two goals each out of five total for the squad.
FMU leads the series with Coker 20-9-7.
