GREENVILLE, SC – Junior Callum McGuigan shot a season-best three-under-par 69 to help Francis Marion University move up two spots in the team standings to 15th after the second round of the 48th-annual Furman University Intercollegiate Golf Tournament on Saturday (March 25).
The final round will begin on Sunday morning on the 6,994-yard, par 72 Furman University Golf Course.
Clemson University, second after Friday's opening round, surged to an 11-stroke lead in the team standings. The Tigers, at 556, lead USC Aiken (567), Chattanooga (569), Georgia Southern University (569), and Wofford College (570) in the Top 5.
Francis Marion tallied a 290 score on Saturday to go with Friday's 297 and the Patriots stand at 587.
McGuigan is tied for 24th position in the players' standings with a two-day total of 143. His second round included five birdies. Sophomore Lars Sandvoll is tied for 38th place with a 73-72=145 scorecard, while junior Marc Casullo (74-74=148) is tied for 62nd position, junior Alessandro Caselli (76-75=151) is tied for 96th, and freshman Haakon Andersen (87-75=162) stands 125th.
FMU freshman Mark Goodall is playing as an individual and is tied for 100th position with a 76-76=152 scorecard.
Andrew Novak of Wofford shot a 66 on Saturday to take over the top spot in the players' standings with an 11-under-par 133 total.
FMU golfers will tee off on Sunday at 9:30 a.m. on holes 10, 11, and 12. Goodall will also start at 9:30 a.m., but on the 18th hole.
