Brandon Funk is entering his third year as an assistant coach with the Francis Marion University men’s basketball program. He also works in the FMU admissions office.

Funk earned his B.S. in sports management and athletic coaching from Georgia Southern University in 2012. He then went on to complete his master’s degree in coaching and athletic administration at Concordia University in 2014.

His extensive coaching experience includes a volunteer assistant coaching position at the University of Montevallo and assistant positions at Wallace State Community College, St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes School, and Statesboro High School.

He was also the head coach for the Hawks Elite 16U AAU program. This position gave him experience in creating practice plans, coaching in tournaments, and safety and well-being of the players.

Funk served as a collegiate basketball scout for the National Scouting Report (NSR). In this role, Funk identified high school athletes with collegiate basketball playing abilities, and recruited these athletes to be a part of the NSR.

He was an administrative assistant to the Director of Basketball Operations for the Georgia Southern University basketball camps in the summer of 2012, and the manager for the GSU men’s basketball team from 2009-11.
