The unbeaten Francis Marion University men's basketball team will play host to Shaw University on Tuesday (Nov. 21) at 7 p.m. in the Smith University Center.
General admission is $8 for adults and $5 for students (FMU students are admitted free with ID). The game will be streamed live online, at https://www.youtube.com/user/FMUPatriots , courtesy of the Patriot Sports Network.
Francis Marion (3-0) continues to be led by senior guard Detrek Browning, who is averaging 27.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game. The Columbia native has 1,701 career points and needs only 14 points to pass former Patriot great Louis McCullough for third place on the Patriot scoring list.
Shaw (2-3) is paced by 6-2 senior guard DeAngelo Stephens-Bell with averages of 21.2 ppg, 7.0 rpg, and 6.0 apg. Backcourt teammate DaVaughn Kelsie adds 16.6 ppg.
FMU is averaging 84.0 ppg and surrendering 70.3 ppg, while the Bears are scoring 78.4 ppg and allowing 82.6 ppg.
The all-time series is deadlocked at 2-2, but this will be the first meeting between the two programs in seven seasons. FMU won the first meeting (122-108 in 1987) and the last (87-78 in 2011), while Shaw swept a pair of games during the 1996-97 campaign.
