Francis Marion University freshman left fielder Will Hardee has been named the Peach Belt Conference baseball Freshman of the Week for the week of March 4-10.
Hardee hit .429 in five games last week with five doubles and six RBIs. The South Florence High School product had multiple hits in three of the five games and drew a pair of walks for a .478 on-base percentage. He helped lead the Patriots to four wins in the five games.
He had three doubles and three RBIs in a two-game sweep of Chowan, then hit .417 in three games against PBC foe Georgia College over the weekend. He went 2-for-4 in the opener with a double and an RBI, drove in two more in game two and doubled again in game three.
He finished the week with a .667 slugging percentage and scored four runs. Hardee is tied for third in the league in doubles and is 11th in total hits.
For the year, Hardee is batting .355 with 16 runs scored in 21 games, eight doubles, a triple, and 17 RBIs. He currently has a six-game hitting streak.
The 15-7 Patriots are tied for the conference lead with an 8-4 mark. FMU will play a non-conference game at Limestone College on Tuesday at 6 p.m., before returning to PBC competition with a three-game series at Young Harris College this weekend. The series will consist of single games on Friday at 6 p.m. Saturday at 2 p.m., and Sunday at 1 p.m.
