Francis Marion University junior shortstop CJ Mackinson was named to the Peach Belt Conference's 2018 All-Conference team at the annual PBC baseball awards banquet, held Thursday night (May 10) in St. Augustine, Fla.
Mackinson was selected to the second-team All-PBC squad.
The Sykesville, Md., native led the Patriots in homers (6), doubles (14), OPS (.906), and slugging percentage (.506), while batting .320 and driving in 35 runs. He scored 29 runs, recorded a .400 on-base percentage, and registered 16 multi-hit games and nine multi-RBI games. During the year, he put together a 13-game hitting streak and he reached base safely in 38 of 43 games.
Mackinson was a model of consistency at the plate, batting .320 against righties, lefties, with the bases empty, and with runners on base.
In the field, he compiled a .953 fielding percentage with only eight errors in 171 chances.
He was recently named FMU's 2018 team most valuable player. He was inducted into the Beta Gamma Sigma business honor society this past semester and was named to the FMU Swamp Fox Athletic-Academic Honor Roll last fall for his work in the classroom.
The Patriots finished the season with an 18-28 record.
Mackinson is a product of Century High School and previously attended Frederick Community College before transferring to Francis Marion.
