FMU Baseball hosts Claflin on Wednesday

The Francis Marion University baseball team will host Claflin University in non-conference action on Wednesday (April 4) at 6 p.m. on Cormell Field at Sparrow Stadium.

Admission is $8 for adults and $5 for students with FMU students admitted free with identification.

The games will be streamed live online at, and shown locally on Time Warner Cable channel 11, courtesy of the Patriots Sports Network.

Francis Marion has a 12-23 record, while the Panthers bring a 10-21 mark into Wednesday's contest.

Senior designated hitter Tee DuBose owns a team-best .329 batting average, while junior left fielder Gage Taylor is hitting .322 with a 19-game hitting streak and a team-high 28 runs batted in.

Freshman right-hander Austin Roseberry is Francis Marion's probable starting pitcher.  The Charlotte native is 2-1 with a 5.85 earned run average and 27 strikeouts in 32.1 innings of work.

Senior outfielder Darrell Langston paces Claflin with a .390 average, nine home runs, and 36 RBIs.  The Panthers' roster includes six Pee Dee area players: senior second baseman Andrew Hooks (Darlington), senior utility player Johnathan Parnell II (Florence), junior pitcher Eric Dubose (Darlington), freshman first baseman Eric McElveen (Florence), junior utility player Craig Hopkins (Marion), and freshman catcher Malik Brown (Lake City).

FMU has won all 14 previous meetings between the two programs.
