The Francis Marion University men's and women's soccer teams will host a doubleheader on Wednesday (Oct. 10) as the men's squad faces local-rival Coker College at 5 p.m., and the women take on Peach Belt Conference foe USC Aiken at 7:30 p.m. Both matches will be on Hartzler Field in the Griffin Athletic Complex.
Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for students, and FMU students are admitted free. Both matches will be streamed live online courtesy of the Patriot Sports Network.
The men's match is Florence Soccer Association Night, while the women's contest is celebrated as Greek Life Night.
The FMU men (4-5-0) continue a three-match homestand, which opened with a loss to the University of North Georgia on Saturday. Freshman Sidney Warden (four goals) and senior Oliver Drakenhammar (three goals and two assists) lead the Patriots with eight points apiece.
Coker (3-5-0) is coming off of a 6-1 victory over Mars Hill University for their first South Atlantic Conference victory of the season. FMU owns a 21-9-7 all-time record against the Cobras, including a 2-1 victory last season.
The Patriot women (4-5-1, 1-3-0) are coming off of a 2-2 tie against Albany State University on Saturday, which extended their unbeaten run to three in a row. Sophomore Megan Misuraca opened the scoring for Francis Marion, giving her four goals in the last two matches. Sophomore midfielder Dayle McEwen's 15 points (7 goals, 1 assist) rank her sixth in the PBC in scoring, while freshman goalkeeper Rachael Hennenkamp's 54 saves rank among the conference leaders.
USC Aiken (2-6-0, 0-3-0) fell to conference leader and third-ranked Columbus State University its last time out. Francis Marion is 8-2-0 all-time against the Pacers, including a 3-2 overtime victory in 2017.
