Francis Marion University will hold its annual FMU Activities Camp 2018, June 4-29. The camp for boys and girls, ages 5-14, is divided into four sessions and runs weekdays from 8 a.m. until noon. Each of the four five-day sessions is $70 per camper. For those who participated in last year's camp, the sessions are reduced to $60 each. Camp activities – taught by FMU coaches – will include kickball, soccer, tennis, volleyball, basketball, and swimming. Swimming is not taught, but life jackets are available. Activities will vary from week to week, so as to introduce many different sports. Campers will be divided into groups by ages, and will receive an Activities Camp T-shirt. Francis Marion University has announced two sessions of its Baseball Camp 2018, an opportunity for young athletes to develop and polish their diamond skills. The annual camp, for children ages 7-12, will be held June 25-29 and July 9-13 from 9 a.m. until noon each day. Conducted by Francis Marion head baseball coach Art Inabinet and members of the Patriot baseball team, the camps will stress learning basic game strategy and making the most of individual skills. The camps will cost $90 per session, if paid in advance, or $100 on the first day of camp. Each camper will receive a T-shirt. Francis Marion University has scheduled two sessions of its annual Tennis Camp 2018, June 18-21 and July 9-12, for boys and girls ages 8 to 18. The camp will be held Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. until noon on the Kassab Courts on the FMU campus. The cost will be $60 per camper per session or $100 for both sessions. The Francis Marion University women's volleyball program will hold a Youth Day Camp on June 22-23 and an Elite Individual Camp on July 10-12. The Youth Day Camp is for ages eighth grade and younger and will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day with a cost of $140. For the Elite Camp, campers may choose to either commute ($280) to camp daily, or reside on campus ($315) in the FMU residence halls. The Elite Camp is for players entering the ninth through 12th grades. Prices increase to $305 and $335 respectively after June 26. The camps are designed to instruct every skill of volleyball, including serving, passing, setting, attacking, blocking, and digging, in addition to team defensive and offensive systems. Soccer Day Camps
The Francis Marion University soccer program will hold a pair of 2018 Summer Day Camps for boys and girls ages 7-to-15. The first session will be held June 4-8 and the second session will be held June 18-22, both on the FMU campus. The cost for each camp is $90 and the camp will run from 9 am to noon each day. The camps, under the direction of FMU men's head coach John Campbell and assistant coach Travis Brent, focus on the technical development of each player, while allowing them to have fun at the same time.
