Patriot volleyball fall to Barton in 3 tight sets

WILSON, N.C. – Francis Marion University dropped a close three-set match to Barton College on Wednesday night (Sept. 13) in college volleyball action.

The Patriots fall to 2-5 on the season, whereas the Bulldogs improve to 4-6.

Francis Marion will return to action on Friday as they open up Peach Belt Conference play against Augusta University. First serve is set for 7 p.m. The next home contest for FMU will be on Sept. 19 against Southern Wesleyan University starting at 7 p.m. in the Smith University Center.

Junior Georgia Garrison led the patriot squad with 10 kills in the match, while senior Erika Hartings registered nine kills and 11 digs in the 25-23, 26-24, 25-19 loss.

Junior setter Carrie McGinnis tallied 30 assists and dug up 11 balls, as sophomore Natalie Vaughn recorded 17 digs.
