Patriot Volleyball falls at ASU 3-2
AUGUSTA, GA -- Despite double-doubles from sophomores Ashlyn Underhill and Ashlee Crook, Francis Marion University lost to Augusta State University in five games (25-23, 25-16, 19-25, 23-25, 15-10), Tuesday evening (Sept. 22) in Peach Belt Conference volleyball action.
FMU drops to 5-6 overall and 0-2 in the Peach Belt, while ASU improves to 8-5 and 1-1.
Underhill paced the Patriots with 14 kills and 14 digs, while Crook registered 12 kills and 11 digs. Junior middleblocker Mallory Eggert added 10 kills. Junior libero Kelsie Deaton dug up a game-high 24 balls, and Jess O'Leary (30) and Hallie Legg (23) combined for 53 assists.
The Patriots fell behind 0-2 but won games three and four to force the deciding fifth game.
FMU will host a pair of Peach Belt Conference matches this weekend: USC Aiken on Friday at 7 p.m. and Lander University on Saturday at 3 p.m.
