Pirates beat FMU Volleyball 3-0

SAVANNAH GA - Armstrong Atlantic State University defeated Francis Marion University in three straight games 25-17, 25-23, 25-18, Friday night (Nov. 6) in Peach Belt Conference women's volleyball action.

Francis Marion falls to 11-18 overall and 3-10 in the PBC, while the Pirates (23-8, 10-3 PBC) secured the No. 2 seed for the upcoming PBC Tournament. AASU could face the Patriots in the first round as Francis Marion is currently seventh in the standings with one match remaining.

Sophomore Amanda Mitchell led Francis Marion with seven kills, while senior setter Jess O'Leary tallied 19 assists and freshman Liz Drewry notched a team-high 10 digs.

Senior Marina Marinova led AASU with 10 kills, while Michele Remlinger hit .800 with eight kills and no errors in 10 attacks, the third best single-match hitting percentage in school history. Kristin Standhardinger notched 29 assists, seven kills and seven digs on the night, while Casey Howett led all players with 13 digs.

The Patriots will close out their regular season at Flagler College on Saturday at 2 p.m. The Peach Belt Conference Tournament will be held next week in Aiken.
