Patriots Volleyball sweeps two matches at home invitational
FLORENCE, SC - The Francis Marion University women's volleyball team swept a pair of matches on Saturday (Aug. 30) to conclude play in the 2008 Patriot Invitational.
FMU improved to 3-1 by handing Glenville State College its first loss of the season, 25-19, 25-18, 25-12 on Saturday morning and then the Patriots returned to the court in the evening to sweep Converse College 25-8, 25-16, 25-9.
Francis Marion will play host to Barton College on Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. in the Smith University Center.
Against GSC, senior Jessica Lombardi paced a balanced FMU attack with seven kills and nine digs. Senior setter Jenna Kaiser compiled 24 assists and five digs, while sophomore libero Kelsie Deaton recorded 10 digs.
In the win over Converse, freshman Ashlee Crook tallied a career-high 16 kills and a .565 attack percentage, while freshman Ashlyn Underhill added 11 kills, 15 digs, and three service aces. Kaiser handed out 28 assists and junior Jess O'Leary had 14 digs.
In the two matches, Francis Marion held its opponents to a combined -.015 attack percentage.
