Freshmen lead FMU volleyball team to sweep of Barton

FLORENCE, SC - Freshmen Ashlee Crook, Amanda Mitchell, Ardelia Morris, and Ashlyn Underhill combined for 26 kills, while committing only four attack errors, to lead Francis Marion University to a three-game sweep (25-13, 25-10, 25-11) of Barton College, Tuesday evening (Sept. 2) in non-conference women's volleyball action.

FMU (4-1) will play in the UAH Invitational Tournament this Friday and Saturday in Huntsville, Ala.  Barton (0-1) will return to action on Sept. 12-13 at the Tusculum College Tournament.

Crook led the Patriots with nine kills, while hitting .400.  Both Mitchell and Morris had six kills and Underhill five.  Senior setter Jenna Kaiser handed out 14 assists in two games, while sophomore libero Kelsie Deaton dug up a game-high seven balls.

Sophomore Melissa Ritter led the Lady Bulldogs with four kills, while sophomore setter Macon Harmon dished out seven assists.  Libero Cassie Blackmon registered six digs.
