Francis Marion rallies past WV State 6-3

FLORENCE, SC – Francis Marion University captured straight-set wins at the top four singles positions and the 30th-ranked Patriots rallied to a 6-3 non-conference victory over 48th-ranked West Virginia State University, Wednesday afternoon (March 26) in women's tennis action.

Francis Marion, now 8-3, will play host to a pair of matches this weekend: Saturday against Concordia (N.Y.) College at 10 a.m. and Sunday at 11 a.m. against Georgia Southwestern State University.

WV State (12-4) won two of the three doubles matches to take an early 2-1 lead.  However, FMU quickly earned singles wins at Nos. 1, 2, 3, and 4 while dropping only five games.

Freshman Samantha Koelliker (No.1), junior Julia Graf (No.2), and sophomore Nora Westbye (No.3) all improved their season singles records to 10-1. Senior Kimberley Hurter won at the No.4 position, as did senior Caitlin Siney at No.6.
