A trio of Francis Marion University spring sports squads will be playing at home on Wednesday (April 3). The Patriots baseball team will play host to St. Augustine's University for a non-conference doubleheader, while the nationally ranked men's and women's tennis teams will play host to the top-ranked Armstrong Atlantic State University squads at 3 p.m. on the Kassab Courts.
The first baseball game will start at 4 p.m. on Cormell Field at Sparrow Stadium within the Griffin Athletic Complex. Both games of the twinbill will be televised live on Channel 11 of Florence's Time Warner Cable system as well as streamed on the internet at http://www.ustream.tv/fmupatriots .
Admission for the doubleheader is $8 for adults and $5 for students (FMU students are admitted free with ID).
Admission to the tennis match is free.
The Patriot baseball team is 15-13, while the Falcons were 22-12 heading into a home twinbill against Lenior-Rhyne University on Tuesday.
The 10th-ranked FMU women's tennis team (19-1, 10-1) will entertain the top-ranked Pirate women (18-1, 10-0). Armstrong played Flagler College on Tuesday. An FMU win on Wednesday could possibly create a three-way tie for first place in the PBC standings with one conference match remaining.
The 27th-ranked Francis Marion men are 12-5 overall and 3-5 in the conference, while Armstrong is 15-1 and 7-0.
Armstrong won both NCAA Division II national titles last season. The women have won four of the last five national championships and seven overall. The men have won three of the past five Division II titles.
