The 11th-ranked Francis Marion University women's tennis team will host a pair of Peach Belt Conference matches this weekend on the Kassab Courts.
Francis Marion will entertain Clayton State University on Saturday at 2 p.m. and the University of Montevallo on Sunday at 11 a.m.
Admission to both matches is free.
Francis Marion has won its last five matches to improve to 12-1 overall and 5-1 in the PBC. Clayton State, ranked 50th in the latest ITA poll, is 4-3 overall and 3-1 in conference action, while Montevallo is 6-5 and 2-4.
Senior Mona Blauen continues to lead the FMU women. She is ranked 25th nationally in singles and owns a 10-3 singles mark and a 10-3 doubles record (along with sophomore Julia Graf). With 58 career singles victories (against only 10 defeats), she is now within nine wins of second place on the Patriot career wins list (Lee Whitwell 67-24 record). In doubles play, her 61-14 mark places her two victories away from tying Whitwell (63-20 record) on the doubles wins list.
Graf, 12-0 at the No. 3 singles position, and freshman Lena Specht, 11-0 at the No. 5 spot, are among only seven players in the PBC still unbeaten this season in singles action.
The Patriots are under the direction of former Patriot All-American Garth Thomson. In 21 seasons, Thomson has guided the FMU women to a 275-167 record, including 11 trips to the NCAA Tournament and national rankings at the conclusion of 14 of the previous 20 seasons.
Neither Clayton State or Montevallo sponsor men's tennis, so the 27th-ranked Patriot men (9-3) have the weekend off.
