Patriot netters ground Flying Fleet

DUE WEST, SC – The nationally ranked Francis Marion University men's and women's tennis teams started a long span of road matches with a sweep of Erskine College, Wednesday afternoon (Feb. 6).

The 20th-ranked FMU men improved to 2-0 with a 9-0 blanking of the Flying Fleet, while the 10-ranked Patriot women (2-0) defeated the 40th-ranked Erskine women 6-3.

Patriot senior Mona Blauen recorded her 50th career singles victory with a straight-sets 6-4, 6-3 win over Miranda Guthrie at the No.1 singles spot. Blauen, ranked 25th in NCAA Division II singles, owns a 50-7 career mark.

Both FMU squads will play at Wingate University on Saturday at noon.
