Francis Marion University junior Mona Blauen has been selected as the Peach Belt Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 6-12, the second consecutive week that a Patriot has earned the honor.
Blauen, currently ranked 20th nationally among NCAA Division II women's singles players, won both her singles matches last week while dropping only seven games. She is 3-0 this season and has won her last six matches dating back to last season.
She also teamed with Jitka Gavdunova to win a pair of doubles matches by 8-2 and 8-0 scores. The duo is ranked 11th nationally in Division II.
The native of Cologne, Germany, improved her career singles record to 33-6.
Both the Patriot men's and women's squads will play host to local-rival Coker College on Sunday at 2 p.m. on the Kassab Courts. The FMU women are 3-0, while the 14th-ranked men are 2-0.
