Vetock ranked among national leaders
Francis Marion University senior goalkeeper Lauren Vetock is ranked among the nation's top keepers in several statistical categories.
Vetock is ranked 12th among all NCAA Division I keepers in minutes played, having tended goal for all 1,100 minutes the Patriots have been on the field this season. The Pasadena, Md., native is also 17th in total saves with 65 in 12 matches and 136th in save percentage at 0.783.
Vetock owns a 1.47 goals against average and has faced 190 shots in the 12 contests.
Despite its 3-8-1 record, Francis Marion has surrendered only 18 goals this season, including only six over the past five matches. Four of the team's losses have been by 1-0 decisions.
"Lauren has been a solid presence in goal this season," said FMU head coach Joel Person. "With a still young and developing back line, she has provided experience on the defensive side of the ball. Our defense has improved as the season has progressed and has been allowing us the opportunity to win or tie matches.
"Lauren is also the hardest working player on our team and serves as a great example for others to follow."
Vetock played two seasons at NCAA Division II Shepherd University, before transferring to Francis Marion in 2010. She appeared in 11 matches last season for FMU and made eight starts.
