FMU signs two women's soccer players
First-year Francis Marion University womens soccer coach Joel Person has announced the signing of 5-9 defender Rebeccah Hoekstra of Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada, and 5-2 midfielder Megan Ogiltree of Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, to national letters of intent to attend FMU and play for the Patriot women this fall.

FMU Women's Soccer Team ranks 17th for class work
For the fifth consecutive year, the Francis Marion University womens soccer team has earned a National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Team Academic Award, this time ranking 17th out of all 300-plus NCAA Division I womens programs. These most recent awards are for the 2007-08 school year.

FMU goalkeeper busy in the nation's capitol
Emily Brandenburg (left), a junior goalkeeper on the Francis Marion University womens soccer team, has been busy in Washington, D.C., this spring. She is currently interning in the United States Senate, and was recently named the South Carolina Cherry Blossom Princess and represented the state in the 97th-annual national Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington three weeks ago.

Athletic Department officials at Francis Marion University have announced the appointment of Joel Person as the new head coach for the womens soccer program. Person served as the mens assistant coach at FMU during the 2008 fall season.

The Peach Belt Conference mens soccer match between Francis Marion University and Clayton State University scheduled for Saturday afternoon (Sept. 20) has been moved from the FMU campus to the Coker College Soccer Field in Hartsville. The match will kick-off at 4 p.m. The womens match between FMU and Charlotte (3-3-1) set for Sunday at 2 p.m. on the FMU Soccer Field, is still set to go on as scheduled.

A few hours after it was announced that the Francis Marion University mens soccer home match on Saturday had been moved, the Patriot womens program also changed its match scheduled for Sunday afternoon.
Both schedule alterations were facilitated by the extremely wet condition of the FMU Soccer Field.
