Fall sports teams report at Francis Marion

Five fall sports teams will converge on the Francis Marion University campus this weekend to prepare for their 2008 seasons.

Altogether 71 student-athletes from the men's and women's soccer teams, men's and women's cross country teams, and the women's volleyball team will report back to campus.  Prior to their first practice sessions, each student-athlete will undergo a physical examination and attend a compliance meeting.

The FMU women's soccer team will hold its first practice on Friday, while the other four squads will begin working out on Monday.

The first home event for the Patriots will be a men's soccer exhibition match on Saturday, Aug. 23, at 11 a.m. against St. Andrews Presbyterian College.  The initial regular-season event will be a women's soccer match against East Carolina University on Sunday, Aug. 24, at 2 p.m.

Fall semester classes at FMU will begin on Aug. 20.
