Women’s basketball drops exhibition to UNCG

Greensboro, N.C. (Nov. 2, 2013) – Junior forward Alaysia Watts recorded a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds, but the Francis Marion University women's basketball team dropped an exhibition contest to UNC Greensboro 77-56 Saturday morning.

The Patriots will open their regular season Friday, Nov. 8th, on the road against the University of Tampa in the Tampa Classic. Tipoff is set for 2:30 p.m.

FMU got off to a hot start, and led by as many as 11 in the first half before going into halftime with a 36-31 lead. However, the Spartan defense responded in the second half, and held the Patriots without a field goal for the final 9:11 of the game, and UNCG cruised to the 21 point victory.

Patriot junior guard Cy'erra Mills led all scorers with 15 points, while senior guard Dee Gray chipped in five points and six rebounds. Bailey Williams paced UNCG with 10 points and six rebounds.
