Patriots run at CCU Invitational


CONWAY, SC - Top-15 finishes by senior Hillary Kiprop and freshman Justin Albertson help propel the Francis Marion University men's cross country team to a third-place finish at Friday afternoon's (Sept. 18) Coastal Carolina University Invitational Meet.

Kiprop finished sixth with a 6,000-meter time of 20:44.  Albertson placed 11th in 21:19.  Other Patriot runners included junior Jerry Roth (21:54) in 17th position, junior Ben Miller (22:13) in 20th, freshman Ian Wallace (23:59) in 31st, and freshman Justin Trigg (24:57) in 36th.

Francis Marion did not score in the women's race, but had three individuals take part in the 5,000-meter race.  Senior Amanda Doyle finished in 14th position with a time of 21:56, while sophomore Samantha Smith placed 23rd with a time of 24:35 and freshman Sierra Young was 25th in 26:08.

The host school won both team titles.

Both Francis Marion teams will return to action on Oct. 2 (3:30 p.m.) at the Presbyterian College Blue Hose Invitational Meet in Clinton, S.C.
