FMU Holds 44th-Annual Athletic Banquet

Francis Marion University recently held its 44th-annual Athletic Banquet in the university’s Edward S. Ervin III Dining Hall.  Most Valuable Player awards were given in 14 sports. An outstanding cheerleader award and a student-athlete award were also presented.

 

Gale Summerset Outlaw Outstanding Cheerleading Award – senior Courtney Wilson (Newberry, SC)

Conyers O’Bryan Most Valuable Player Award for baseball – senior Isaac Davenport  (Chattanooga, TN)

Sandra Morris Most Valuable Player Award for men’s basketball – graduate student Evrik Gary (Camden, SC)

Carolyn Bishop Frate Most Valuable Player Award for women’s basketball – junior Briana Robinson (Columbia, SC)

Men’s Cross Country Most Valuable Player award – freshman Jeremiah Hayes (Latta, SC)

Women’s Cross Country Most Valuable Player Award – senior Whitney Wagner (Forest, VA)

Clifford Cormell Most Valuable Player Award for golf – senior Taylor Banks (Lancaster, SC)

Joe and Elease Webb Most Valuable Player Award for men's soccer – sophomore Pascal Magiera (Hemmingen, Germany)

Folly Carter Most Valuable Player Award for women's soccer – senior Yasmin Bunter (Fleet, England)

Ashley Lynn Most Valuable Player Award for women’s softball – senior Kristie Hanewinckel  (Dunnellon, FL)

Men’s Tennis Most Valuable Player award – freshman Richard Ashforth (Durbin, South Africa)

2014 Gladys Hite Most Valuable Player Award for women’s tennis – sophomore Nora Westbye (Lillestrom, Norway)

Jerry and Jean Lee Track and Field Most Valuable Player for men’s track and field – senior Michael Bigelow (Florence, SC)

Women’s Track and Field Most Valuable Player award – senior Whitney Wagner (Forest, VA)

Joseph B. Durant Most Valuable Player Award for women’s volleyball – senior Kailey Smith (Sumner, WA)

Carlanna Hendrick Swamp Fox Academic Award – senior Dalton Gress (Aiken, SC)

 

Three of the recipients were repeat honorees: Wagner (2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 for cross country and 2011 and 2014 for track and field), Gress (2013, 2014), and Gary (2012, 2013, 2014).
