Two Francis Marion University men's tennis players, senior Alex Caspari and sophomore Gavin Davison, were named to the Peach Belt Conference 2013 All-Conference Team. The announcements were made at the recent PBC Championship Tournament in Florence.
Caspari was named to the first-team All-PBC men's singles squad, while Caspari and Davison received second-team All-PBC doubles honors. Caspari earns first-team singles honors for the second year in a row and All-Conference doubles recognition for the third time. Caspari and Davison gained first-team doubles honors last year.
Caspari, a native of Hurth, Germany, has compiled a 16-6 singles mark at the No. 1 position, including 7-3 in conference play, and is ranked 16th nationally. Four of his victories have come against nationally ranked opponents.
He recently became only the fifth player in FMU history to reach 50 career singles wins.
Caspari and Davison combined for a 14-7 doubles record at the No. 1 position and are ranked 16th in the latest national rankings. Four of their losses have been to nationally ranked opponents. Davison hails from Bingley, England.
The 27th-ranked Francis Marion men are 15-8 after finishing fifth at last weekend's PBC Championships. The Patriots are awaiting next week's announcement of the NCAA Division II Tournament field to see if they will earn an at-large invitation.
