Rogers named to PBC All-Academic Teams

Francis Marion University senior men's tennis player Karl Rogers was recently honored for his work in the classroom by being named to the Peach Belt Conference Men’s Tennis All-Academic Team.

Rogers received a B.B.A. degree in finance at FMU’s commencement exercises earlier this month. He had compiled a 3.36 grade point average.

A native of Killiney, Ireland, Rogers was 5-10 in singles play and ranked 13th nationally in doubles with a 10-8 record while gaining All-PBC honors.  FMU posted a 10-8 record and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the fourth straight season.

The teams are part of a season-long program recognizing the outstanding accomplishments of PBC student-athletes in the classroom as well as on the field. To be eligible for the All-Academic team, a student-athlete must participate in at least half of his team’s events and be either a starter or significant contributor, achieve a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale), and have completed at least one full academic year at his current institution.

Founded in 1991, the Peach Belt consists of 13 member institutions in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida and Alabama.  In its short history, the conference boasts 26 NCAA Division II national championships.
