Patriot netters ranked 5th and 18th in final polls
The Francis Marion University women’s and men’s tennis teams are ranked fifth and 18th respectively in the final 2009 Intercollegiate Tennis Association NCAA Division II Top 40 national polls released recently. Several Patriot players were also included in the singles and doubles rankings.

Tennis Pair named ITA All-Americans
Two Francis Marion University men's tennis players were recently named to the 2009 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) NCAA Division II All-America Team. Sophomores Oshada Wijemanne and Dilshod Sharifi were named to the All-America squad for both singles and doubles play.

Three netters named to PBC All-Academic Team
Three Francis Marion University tennis players were recently named to the 2009 Peach Belt Conference Tennis All-Academic Teams. Seniors Bastian Czwalinna and Matthew Keth were selected to the men’s squad, while junior Valeska Ibscher was honored on the women’s side.

Francis Marion University will sponsor two sessions of Tennis Camp 2009 for boys and girls ages 8 to 18. The camps will be held Monday through Friday, June 15-19 and July 13-17, from 9 a.m. until noon each day.

Patrick Rittenauer outlasted Francis Marion University senior Franklin Emmanuel in three sets at No. 1 singles to give fifth-ranked Barry University a 5-4 win over the 20th-ranked Patriots, Thursday afternoon (May 15) in the quarterfinal round of the NCAA Division II Men’s Tennis National Finals. FMU ends its season with a 19-6 record after making the program’s deepest run ever into the national tournament.
