FMU men's soccer site change on Saturday; Girls Youth Soccer Day on Sunday
FLORENCE, SC - The Peach Belt Conference men's soccer match between Francis Marion University and Clayton State University scheduled for Saturday afternoon (Sept. 20) has been moved from the FMU campus to the Coker College Soccer Field in Hartsville.
The match will kick-off at 4 p.m. The move was facilitated by the wet condition of the FMU field.
The Patriot men are 1-4-1, while the Lakers bring a 3-3-0 record into the PBC opener for both squads.
The women's match between FMU and Charlotte (3-3-1) set for Sunday at 2 p.m. on the FMU Soccer Field, is still set to go on as scheduled. Admission is free.
The Patriot women will celebrate Girls Youth Soccer Day on Sunday. Every area youth player wearing their team jersey will be invited to participate in a one-hour clinic with the Francis Marion squad immediately following the match.
Charlotte won the first-ever meeting between the two programs 2-1 last year in the Queen City. The 49ers won the 2007 Atlantic 10 Conference championship and advanced to the NCAA Tournament.
