FMU keeper stops PBC Weekly award again

For the second time in three weeks, Francis Marion University sophomore goalkeeper Clark Richeson has been selected as the Peach Belt Conference men's soccer "Goalkeeper of the Week," this time for the week ending Oct. 19.

Richeson allowed only two goals while facing 28 shots in two Patriot wins last week.

The Mansfield, Texas, native recorded two saves in a 5-2 win over Barton College, although his school-record scoreless streak in goal ended at 481:05.  He then helped blank Mount Olive College 3-0, making a season-high eight saves en route to his fourth complete-match shutout of the season.

He ranked second in the PBC in total saves (56) and shutouts and is fourth in goals against average (1.46), saves per game (4.00), and save percentage (.727).

The 7-4-3 Patriots are unbeaten in their last eight matches - six wins and two ties.

Francis Marion will play at PBC opponent USC Aiken on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Richeson was an All-District and All-Region goalkeeper at Summit High School.
