Patriots host golf tournament, Sept. 14-15, at CCSC
The Francis Marion University golf team will play host to its
25th-annual intercollegiate tournament, the Springhill Suites
Intercollegiate, Monday and Tuesday (Sept. 14-15), at the Country
Club of South Carolina.
The 54-hole event will consist of 36 holes on Monday and 18 holes
on Tuesday. Play will begin on Monday with a shotgun start at
8 a.m. The CCSC course is a par 72 layout measured at 7,062
yards.
The tournament field includes FMU, Appalachian State University,
College of Charleston, Charleston Southern University, Davidson
College, Elon University, Furman University, George Mason
University, Georgia College & State University, James Madison
University, Presbyterian College, Radford University, Samford
University, USC Aiken, USC Upstate, Western Carolina University,
and defending tournament champion Georgia Southern University.
This will be FMU's season opening tournament for 2009-2010.
The Patriot playing roster will include seniors Christopher Couch
(Summerville, SC) and Matt Jackson (Gloverville, SC); sophomore
Ciaren McKenna (Mallow, Ireland) and freshmen Sebastian Backlund
(Bollebygd, Sweden), and Travis Gantt (Greenwood, SC).
The Springhill Suites by Marriott is located at 2670 Hospitality
Boulevard near the Florence Civic Center and the intersection of
Interstate Highways 95 and 20.
