For the second time in less than a month, graduate student Evrik Gary has been named the Francis Marion University Student-Athlete of the Week, this time for the period ending Dec. 16.
The 6-3 Camden, S.C., native tallied team-highs of 20 points and nine rebounds while helping the Patriots to an 83-70 road win at Bluefield State College on Dec. 12 in the squad's only action last week. As the Patriots returned from exams, Gary connected on 6-of-13 field goal attempts, including 3-of-5 three-point shots, and hit 5-of-6 free throws in 35 minutes of action. He also added two assists and two steals.
Gary now has 1,323 career points, seven points shy of former Patriot All-American, FMU Hall of Fame member, and current Florence-area physician Dr. Robert Moore who occupies 11th position on the school’s career scoring list.
Gary and the rest of the Patriots return to Peach Belt Conference action on Dec. 16 at USC Aiken with tipoff set for 7:30 p.m.
