Boyd named to All-PBC squad

AIKEN, SC - Junior forward Simel Boyd was named to the All-Peach Belt Conference second-team at the PBC's basketball awards banquet, held Friday evening (March 5) in Aiken.  The event was held prior to the conference's championship weekend.

Boyd, a 6-4 native of Ridgeville, S.C., led the FMU men in scoring (12.2 ppg), rebounding (6.6 rpg), and minutes played (28.0 mpg).  He connected on 52.5 percent of his field goal attempts and was second on the team in steals and blocked shots.  He scored in double figures 19 times, including two 20-point games, and recorded three double-doubles.

Boyd helped lead the FMU men to an 18-10 record, the second-highest win total in 17 seasons. 

Two seasons ago, Boyd was honored as the Peach Belt's Freshman of the Year.
