Francis Marion University junior right-hander Isaac Rodgers has been named the Peach Belt Conference Pitcher of the Week, for the week of Feb. 5-11.
Rodgers powered the Patriots to a win in the second game of their three-game sweep of Augusta University to begin league play. The Rock Hill, S.C., native pitched eight innings, allowing eight hits, three runs (two earned), and walking one with seven strikeouts. He threw 103 pitches in the game, 76 of which found the strike zone.
After allowing two home runs in the second inning, he set down 11 Jaguars in a row, a streak broken by an error in the fifth. That performance allowed the Patriots to rally for a 6-4 win on Feb. 10.
Rodgers moves to 2-0 on the season with a 1.29 earned run average. He is tied for first in the PBC in wins and is sixth in strikeouts and seventh in ERA.
The 5-2 Patriots host Chowan University in non-conference play on Tuesday at 5 p.m. and Wednesday at 2 p.m., both on Cormell Field at Sparrow Stadium.
Rodgers is a product of Rock Hill High School.
