PEMBROKE, NC – UNC Pembroke scored five runs in the first inning and went on to a 10-3 victory over Francis Marion University, Sunday afternoon (April 9) in Peach Belt Conference baseball action.
Francis Marion (26-14, 8-10) will play host to Limestone College on Tuesday at 6 p.m. Following the game will be the second installment of the Batting for Babies competition.
The Braves scored five times in the opening frame off Patriot freshman starter Sam High (1-2) and added a sixth run in the second inning. UNCP eventually took a 10-0 advantage after six frames, before Francis Marion plated three runs in the top of the ninth.
Kyle Boraski (4-2) was credited with the win after tossing five scoreless innings during which he allowed three singles and struck out four.
Senior Antonio Pino scored the first FMU run on a wild pitch. Freshman outfielder Connor Howell drove in the second run with an RBI ground out and Robbins accounted for the final run with an RBI single to left field.
UNCP left fielder Stibel Aleman Saba was 4-for-4 with four runs batted in. His three-run homer highlighted the first-inning outburst.
