2008-09 FMU athletics wrap-up

The 2008-09 athletic year at Francis Marion University was one of the successful in school history. Eight of the program's 12 sports advanced to NCAA post-season competition, nine of the 10 squads that compile won-loss records posted winning marks, and six squads appeared in national polls.

The men's soccer team won the Peach Belt Conference regular season and tournament championships.

The women's basketball team captured its second straight Peach Belt Conference regular season title.

The baseball team won the Peach Belt Conference Tournament.

The women's tennis team hosted an NCAA Regional Tournament.

Three teams (men's soccer, men's cross country, and women's tennis) earned Peach Belt Conference Team Sportsmanship Awards.

Francis Marion University was presented with the inaugural Peach Belt Conference Institution of the Year Sportsmanship Award.
