The unbeaten Patriot baseball team (8-0) will look to establish its best start in program history when the Patriots entertain Newberry College for a doubleheader at 1 p.m. on Cormell Field at Sparrow Stadium. General admission for the Jeffords Allstate Insurance Day twinbill is $8 for adults and $5 for students (FMU students are admitted free with ID).
The nationally ranked FMU tennis teams will play host to Erskine College at 1 p.m. on the Kassab Courts. Both squads were 3-0 heading into Friday's match with Wingate University.
The hoops teams will play a Peach Belt Conference doubleheader at Armstrong State University in Savannah, Ga., on Saturday with the women's contest tipping off at 4 p.m. and the men's game at 6 p.m.
The FMU women's basketball squad (15-11, 10-7) has moved into a tie for second place with UNC Pembroke in the PBC's East Division standings and will be looking to complete a season sweep of the Pirates (9-17, 5-12).
The Francis Marion men (11-15, 6-11), winners of three straight, are now within one-and-a-half games of the all-important fourth-place position in the East Division. Armstrong State (10-16, 5-12) defeated the Patriots 85-82 earlier this season in Florence.
On Sunday, the FMU baseball squad will play a 2 p.m. game at Newberry College and the Patriot women's tennis team will play at NCAA Division I Coastal Carolina University at 11 a.m.
